Back MassageJan’s Swedish Massage is a classic full body massage and a favorite of my clients. I adapt techniques to your needs to increase circulation, relieve tight muscles and promote profound relaxation. I will incorporate pressure points and deep tissue strokes on specific stressed areas. This is my basic massage – additional cost for warm stones.
Jan’s most popular massage ~ Flowers Warm Stones and Massage OilSmooth rounded basalt stones are heated in water before I  use the stones as extensions of my hands for a profoundly comforting massage. The warmth and weight of the stones relax muscle tissue including deep relaxation without over heating. I add these stones to my massage along and can add aromatherapy for a relaxing anecdote to stress.

Available for  60min. or 90min.

Deep Tissue MassageDeep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage therapy focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles.

Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury.

Neuromuscular therapy is a bodywork method that combines deep tissue therapy, active movement and active awareness. Clients actively participate in engaging muscles while the therapist massages the muscle. Increase range of motion and proper alignment of soft tissue allows the spine to become in balance. Strain-Counter-strain is a type of “passive positional release”. This gentle and painless technique is a very effective treatment for a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions such as headaches, fibromyalgia, sciatica, tendinitis, chronic neck pain, and post-surgical conditions.
Strain/Counter-strain is an effective, but extremely gentle technique because treatment with Strain/Counter-strain moves the patient’s body away from the painful, restricted direction of motion, and toward the position of comfort that is therapeutic.

lose up of baby's foot in mother's handJan is certified in prenatal, labor and postpartum massage. Her nurturing touch and understanding of the mother’s changing body, and hormonal changes during pregnancy make the experience relaxing.

Pregnancy (Prenatal) Massage is a wonderful way to maintain physical, mental, and emotional balance and wellness during this amazing time. Regular pregnancy massage addresses the unique stresses of pregnancy – such as mid and low back pain, headaches, insomnia, sciatic pain, swelling, or nausea.

Prenatal massage increases circulation and helps mom’s body handle it’s daily changes – and challenges. As baby grows and mom’s body changes, her center of gravity is affected constantly, which in turn taxes her body to continually modify and compensate in how it functions and moves. Muscles and joints can be achy, tight, or tender, varicose veins and swollen ankles can emerge, and hips can get achy throughout the course of pregnancy. Massage offers an incredibly enjoyable way to address these issues.

Prenatal Massage Promotes Health of Mom-to-be & Baby!

Mental and emotional stress are also a factor in pregnancy, as mom deals with natural apprehensions of motherhood, hormonal changes, a rapidly changing body, work/life balance concerns, and more. Massage is generally recognized as a great way to lower stress response hormones and induce a state of relaxation and a heightened sense of well-being. Bringing mom – and baby along with her – into a more relaxed state of mind and body is extremely beneficial. Receiving massage regularly helps maintain and build on those benefits with each session.

Receiving regular prenatal treatments is highly recommended by most obstetricians and midwives and studies have proved it to provide additional benefits such as:

  • better self/body image
  • healthier babies
  • shorter labors (yea!)
  • quicker labor recovery
  • happier, healthier moms!

Reiki TreatmentSimply beautiful ~ Reiki is an ancient system of natural healing rediscovered in Japan over one hundred years ago. The word is best translated as “Universal Life Energy.” Reiki is a gentle non-intrusive touch therapy that helps heal the body, mind, spirit, and emotion using subtle energy techniques. This nurturing therapy creates a sense of deep relaxation which is helpful in accelerating healing and relieving pain, chronic fatigue, illness grief and stress. You will remain clothed during this treatment wearing light, loose fitting clothing.

Jan is a certified Reiki Master and enjoys this work immensely. Cancer clients enjoy this treatment as it is not invasive or affecting the physical body.
